Hugel Inc., a leading global medical aesthetics company publicly traded in South Korea, announced Monday the domestic launch of The Chaeum Signature, a new hyaluronic acid dermal filler developed to enhance product safety by minimizing the use of crosslinking agents while maintaining performance and longevity.
The Chaeum Signature marks Hugel's latest innovation to advance its hyaluronic acid dermal filler portfolio. The new line consists of four formulations with a broad range of rheological properties, enabling medical professionals to select the most appropriate product based on treatment area and clinical goals.
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers typically undergo a crosslinking process to maintain hyaluronic acid, which degrades in the body, in a stable gel structure. The Chaeum Signature incorporates Multi Purified Crosslinking (MPC), a proprietary process developed by Hugel affiliate Across. Compared with conventional manufacturing methods, MPC reduces the amount of crosslinking agent by more than 50% while maximizing crosslinking efficiency through the use of high-concentration hyaluronic acid.
The new product also undergoes an extended multi-step purification process lasting about two weeks, which is longer than conventional processes. This method substantially reduces not only residual BDDE, a crosslinking agent, but also BDPE, a hydrolysis byproduct that may be generated during the crosslinking process. This advanced purification technology further enhances product safety and quality while preserving the product's performance. Despite the significant reduction in crosslinking agent use, The Chaeum Signature maintains the firm gel characteristics and longevity that have distinguished Hugel's existing The Chaeum Premium line, without compromising performance.
